MG Unveils New IM Brand in the UK with Two High-Tech Electric Cars

MG is making a bold move into the electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of its new sub-brand, IM, designed to rival the best in the industry. Debuting at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, the IM 5 saloon and IM 6 crossover are the first UK-bound models from this newly established brand, which was first introduced in China in 2022.

The IM 5 is a sleek four-door saloon offering impressive range and performance. With a 100kWh battery, it delivers up to 442 miles of range on a single charge. Thanks to its 800V architecture, it can be charged from 10-80% in just 17 minutes, ensuring you’re back on the road faster. For those seeking a more affordable option, a variant with a 75kWh battery will also be available, providing around 330 miles of range. Prices for the IM 5 start at just £39,450, making it a highly competitive offering in the electric market.

The IM 6, a high-performance SUV, brings the same cutting-edge tech and range, with a starting price of £47,995 for the Long Range version. Both the IM 5 and IM 6 are powered by Hurricane motors, delivering up to 767bhp, enabling the IM 5 to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds. The IM 6 isn’t far behind, reaching 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds, ensuring that both models offer exhilarating performance.

Inside, both models feature a futuristic cabin, including a 26.3-inch wraparound infotainment screen and a 10.5-inch central touchscreen, replacing traditional controls for a cleaner, more intuitive interface. With features like a panoramic roof, automatic park assist, and a rainy night driving mode, the IM range ensures a seamless, high-tech driving experience.
